I teach years 7, 8, 9, 12 and 13 


What made you want to get in to teaching?

Having a passion for my subject. Design Technology is often misunderstood and so I wanted to make a change and a positive impact. 


Describe your teaching style in 3 words 

Creative, independent & purposeful  


What would you say is the most challenging part of being a teacher?  

The thing that I find most challenging as a teacher is keeping the each and every pupil engaged in the lesson. 


What 3 tips would you give to someone about to start their teacher training?

1) You're not going to be perfect

2) Don't compare yourself to other teachers

3) Bad lessons will happen from time to time for every teacher  


What part of your job do you enjoy most?  

I love the social aspect and interacting with the students.  


Why would you recommend someone to get into teaching? 

There really is no better feeling than seeing the impact that you're having on a student. Teaching is such a rewarding job. 


What advice would you give to to an ECT in their first teaching role?

Take your time and start with the basics.  You need to learn to walk before you can run. Perfect your routines and classroom management. 


How would you like to see your teaching career develop? 

I'd like to become head of department in the next few years.
